NEET 2021 to be Conducted Twice a Year Online – Big Decision Today
Students are expecting a positive response from the officials on this matter. This optimism has kindled in the minds of the medical aspirants as Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank hinted the same during his recent interaction with students on 10th January 2021.
What is the Current Expectation from NEET 2021?
The major expected topics for today’s agenda will be –
- NEET 2021 exam date
- Application form date
- Will NEET be held twice a year?
- Will NEET be held in online mode?
Meanwhile, government officials have announced a report stating, “If NTA can manage the logistics and conduct the examination in online mode, NEET can also be held as a computer-based exam (CBT). It will be a great initiative. As the online exams’ reliability and security are well established, it is time for NEET to embrace the online mode of examination.”
At the same time, medical candidates have already been requesting NTA and Ramesh Pokhriyal to conduct NEET 2021 two times over Twitter. A certain NEET aspirant suggested that two rounds of NEET 2021 be held before and after the board exams.
In addition, many students have also raised a few points to the Education Minister:
A statement by Dr. Rakesh Yadav, President, Faculty Association of AIIMS read, “There may be various reasons for which a student may not be able to sit for the NEET exam (in a particular session). If NEET can be conducted multiple times a year like JEE, this would prove to be beneficial for many students. Their academic year will be saved.”
Nevertheless, holding the NEET exam in online mode will be entirely the decision of the Health Ministry. it is being expected that conducting NEET online will not only benefit the students but will also make the exam process more transparent and the results of the test will be evaluated faster and more accurately. Besides, the Ministry of Education has confirmed that the syllabus of NEET 2021 or any other national level entrance exam will not be changed.
The application form of NEET 2021 will be released at www.ntaneet.nic.in or www.nta.ac.in. Only the eligible candidates can register for the medical entrance test. A total of 82,950 MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH, 525 BVSc., and AH seats across India through NEET 2021.
Finally, in the backdrop of the pandemic year and the roll-out of the National Education Policy, taking the next step in the direction of online NEET is now being expected to be just the right thing.
During an online webinar conducted in December 2020, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced that JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Mains will be held 4 times a year instead of the general two from 2021. Aspirants will be offered 4 attempts at JEE Mains 2021, mainly in February, March, April, and May.
As NEET is the only entrance exam for undergraduate medicine programmes in the country, more than 16 lakh medical aspirants registered for it in 2020. Nearly 13 lakh candidates have appeared for the offline exam in 2020. Until now, the NEET exam has been held in pen-and-paper mode (offline) once a year
