This will be their first visit ever since J&K’s special status was revoked in August 2019 by the BJP government.
Earlier, India had organised two such visits of foreign diplomats in January and February last year. During their trip, the diplomats interacted with the local population and also met top officials from the state administration.
On Saturday, Home Minister Amit Shah had asserted in the Lok Sabha that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government has done more for J&K since Article 370 was scrapped in August 2019 than those who ruled it for generations.
He also said that Jammu and Kashmir will be accorded the status at an appropriate time.
Attacking dynastic parties in the region, he said that people chosen by the masses will now rule Jammu and Kashmir and not those born to “kings and queens”.
