Book Dulloo, for deaths of helpless COVID patients: Shagotra
Deaths going unabated in GMC due to criminal negligence of inhuman officers
Jammu, May 15: Expressing his gratitude towards doctors, paramedical and other staff working round the clock to save precious human lives, District president of the Jammu urban unit of J&K Apni Party Jammu, Pranav Shagotra on Saturday demanded registration of FIR against Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Atal Dulloo for on-going ‘massacre’ in GMC Jammu.
Apni Party leader said that the unabated deaths in the GMC Jammu were not less than a ‘massacre’ of helpless COVID patients who are bearing brunt of the criminal negligence of officers.
In a statement issued here today after visiting GMC Jammu, Mr. Shagotra lamented the numbers of deaths in this premium health institute of Jammu are increasing with every passing day but those at the helm of the affairs are busy in dirty petty politics.
The Apni Party leader said that during the month of May, 41 percent of total COVID deaths, across J&K, were recorded from GMC Jammu only- which is a clear indication that this institute has virtually been turned into a ‘slaughterhouse’ due to inhuman approach of Financial Commissioner.
Seeking to draw the attention of Lieutenant Governor towards unabated killings in GMC Jammu, Mr. Shagotra demanded that a case should be registered against Atal Dulloo because it was due to their negligence that many families have lost their dear ones. “We will approach the police to lodge FIR against those responsible for COVID deaths. If police hesitate to lodge FIR then we will approach the Court in this regard”, he said and added that such irresponsible officers, who are playing with the lives of helpless patients, should be booked to give a message in the society.
The Apni Party leader regretted that during a review meeting with Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh Principal GMC Jammu admitted that ventilators given by the Union Government under PM Care programme are yet to make functional in GMC due to technicalities.
“For GMC Principal technicalities are more important than human lives”, he equipped and pointed out that such an irresponsible attitude amounts to criminal negligence.
Pranav Shagotra further said that officers are claiming that there is no shortage of oxygen in GMC but they are failed to give a reason for the unabated killings of helpless poor patients.
He said that the audit report of the Industrial and Commerce Department is an eye-opener because some flaws in the smooth flow of oxygen were identified by the audit team.
Why doctor responsible for managing oxygen transferred to safe posting amid crisis?
Apni Party District president expressed his anger over the transfer of Dr. Monika Wali, who was Nodal Officer for ensuring the supply of oxygen in all government hospitals. For the last so many months she was working as Nodal Officer but when her experience and her services were required to save precious human lives, she was transferred to a ‘safe’ posting in J&K Aids Control Society.
It is very unfortunate that instead of making the doctor responsible for ensuring the supply of oxygen, she was provided an escape route by bureaucrats.
During the third week of April, when the Jammu region recorded an unprecedented spike in the cases of positive cases and demand for the oxygen increased, the Nodal Officer was silently shifted to a ‘safer place.
