DC Reasi releases Rs 1.98 crore under MGNREGA
Reasi, May 18: In order to provide relief to the MGNREGA workers of District Reasi during this tough time of COVID – 19 pandemic, Deputy Commissioner Reasi Charandeep Singh released funds amounting to Rs. One Crore and Ninety Eight Lakhs to different blocks of District Reasi under Material Component of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act ( MGNREGA ) to liquidate the material liability of the works executed during Financial Year 2020-21.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi, who is also District Programme Coordinator MGNREGA also issued directions to the functionaries of Rural Development to utilize these funds in a judicious way by adopting operational guidelines of the said scheme and with prime focus on timely payments, Aadhar seeding and adoption of COVID-19 SoPs and guidelines on MGNREGA work sites.
It is pertinent to mention that MGNREGA is a welfare scheme under which 100 days work is to be provided to the adult members of rural households who are willing to work which has a double impact of generating employment in the rural areas along with development of rural infrastructure in the panchayats.
