To assess the successful implementation of various social programs at J&K, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha today chaired a review meeting and sought a detailed state of emergency relief measures in various parts of the community affected by the Covid-19 epidemic
In fact, the Lieutenant Governor had recently announced a number of measures to alleviate the suffering of sections of the community at risk due to Covid-19.
Lt Governor called on the police to work with compassion and empathy and to take all necessary steps so that people can overcome their difficulties in the disease.
“It is the absolute responsibility of officials at various levels to ensure that no one goes hungry. All of you should contact all citizens who need help. The provision of mid-day meals, additional nutrition should continue for the beneficiaries. Take care of the families of the people who are paid every day, migrant workers and deal with the problems caused by the epidemic, ”said Lt Governor.
Lt Governor saw at the meeting that the epidemic had a profound impact on various aspects of human life.
If necessary, specific interventions should be taken immediately to support high-risk people, workers, women, children, small businesses, farmers, communities and the elderly. Co-operation, consistency and continuous efforts are needed to further strengthen social protection, ”added Lt Governor.
While taking a full look at the implementation of social programs, Lt Governor was informed that assistance had been extended to an estimated 40 lakh beneficiaries under various categories.
It has been reported that under Interest Subvention, approximately 3.50 lakh lenders have received a 5% interest rate interest rate of Rs 200 crore.
With the benefits provided to construction workers, Lt Governor was informed that the first installment of more than Rs 34.50 crore was given to 3,49,303 construction workers working at a cost of Rs 1000 per person.
In addition, Rs 5.6 million has been allocated to Shikarawala / Ponywala / Dandiwala / Palkiwala / Tourists around Rs 28,000 per month for Rs 1000 per month for each beneficiary as two months. In total, 14,627 beneficiaries are from the Kashmir division and 13 153 from the Jammu Division.
As part of COVID's mitigation measures, Rs 55 crore has been allocated to all Regional Development Commissioners at an average of Rs 2.25 crore each and Rs 5 crore to each Division of Jammu and Kashmir commission.
Lt Governor was informed during the meeting that Rs. 2000 was issued to 9.5 lakh farmers under PM-KISAN Yojna which includes the total amount of Rs. 190 years.
In addition, the Department of Rural Development provided services to 26,673 households comprising 35,484 people, including Rs 8.21 crore under MGNREGA in April and May, 2021.
Approximately 7.10 pensioners have received their pension (in DBT mode) up to Rs. 71 Crore under the ISSS Pension for April. Under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension scheme, up to Rs. 25.68 kg in March and April was paid to harvest 1.28 lakh pensioners (via DBT).
The bank accounts of 83 617 beneficiaries of the Ladli Beti program are deposited in the amount of R1. 50.00 cores (by DBT). Another Rs 25 crore is deposited into bank accounts by some of the beneficiaries.
In addition, 1212 beneficiaries from various UT J&K regions were awarded a total of Rs 4.836 as financial assistance to poor girls who can marry (through DBT) under the State Marriage Assistance program this financial year.
It has been announced that the School of Education is providing Dry Ration (Rice) to 8.46 lakh students under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
Under the Supplementary Nutrition program, a total of 7,89,586 beneficiaries including pregnant and breastfeeding women, children under the age of 6 were given a dry assignment at UT.
The Lt Governor has thanked the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi for all the assistance rendered in the Union Territory.
He also called on the relevant authorities to adopt various mitigation strategies in line with the strength of the immediate environment and to ensure seamless extension of benefits to citizens under various programs benefiting the beneficiaries.
