West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee wins Nandigram constituency

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee wins Nandigram constituency by 1200 votes, defeating BJP's Suvendu Adhikari.

West Bengal Election Results 2021 LIVE Updates:- The counting of votes for the by-elections in West Bengal continues. The ruling Trinamool Congress, led by Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee, is facing a challenge from the Barrat Janata Party (BJP). The West Bengal Legislative Council, or Vidhan Sabha, has 294 seats in total. Therefore, a party or coalition needs 148 seats to win elections and form a government. However voting is delayed in two areas. The TMC coalition, the BJP and the Left-Congress were trapped in a months-long battle between coronavirus. Banerjee defeated Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP in the Nandigram constituency.

TMC looks set to win more than 200 seats. Opinions of voters were predicting a nearby contest. While some voters predicted Trinamool would succeed, others suggested that the BJP might win in Bengal for the first time.

The TMC was fighting for a certain level of restraint after ten years in power and is trying to defend the BJP challenge, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah.

The Left Front, which has ruled Bangal for decades, has merged with Congress. They both hoped to turn their fortunes around after a run-off election in government for more than a decade.
