DC Reasi reviews pace of work on USBRL project review issues related to water scarcity and employment of locals
URGE companies to engage more locals through job fairs and come up with water conservation projects as part of their CSR
REASI,JUNE 17: Deputy Commissioner, Reasi,Charandeep singh, today conducted a virtual meeting with Railway authorities to resolve issues hindering the ongoing work on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) besides taking stock of the progress on the prestigious Project.

DyCE/HQ/Reasi from KRCL attended the meeting in person while 21 participants from various
agencies attended the meeting through virtual mode.
During the meeting,DC inquired about water scarcity ,water availability issue ,dumping issues as villagers especially of Khanikote area had in the recent past complained that the water resources in the hills had dried up because of the tunnels and devastation of their lands due to dumping on unacquired land by railways.For Khanikote village, the concerned company
namely M/s VCCL was directed to dig up a diversion channel so that the water could be provided
to the villagers.
The Deputy Commissioner issued instructions in this regard that no dumping of any construction material and waste be carried out in any un-acquired
site. Moreover, he issued instructions to the concerned companies to prepare a strategy to
compensate for depleting water table in the nearby locations where construction works is being
carried out.
DC asked railway agencies to come with certain initiatives of water conservation as part of their CSR to benefit public.
while inquiring about local employment issues and while interacting with different agencies about no of locals engaged by the them,DC urged these companies to come together through a job fair to engage more locals thereby displaying a good message to public .
Apart from these issues, the Deputy Commissioner was also apprised of issues faced by the construction companies. These included shortage of sand for construction works. The Deputy Commissioner assured them that this issue will be resolved at the earliest and also informed them about the commissioning of two Minor Mineral blocks in Arnas area.
While directing concerned officers for expediting the pace of work, the DC also impressed upon them to adhere to SOPs to contain the spread of Covid infection.
The Deputy Commissioner informed the participants that in order to resolve the issues for hassle-free construction, the District Administration will continue to hold periodic virtual meets.
