ARTO Reasi conducts surprise inspection of vehicles Fine amounting Rs 0.83 lacs realised on the spot
Reasi: A team of the Motor Vehicles Department led by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer Reasi conducted intensive checking of vehicles on different routes including Katra, Moori, Domail, Karkayal and Panthal.
A large number of buses, mini buses, trucks and other commercial vehicles were checked for various offences under the Motor Vehicles Act and 20 vehicles were challaned fine amounting to Rs 0.83 lacs was realized on the spot.
During the intensive checking, the defaulters were booked for violations for overcharging, driving without seat belt and helmet, overloading and other offenses. They were also given awareness about the need to follow rules and regulations as provided under the Motor Vehicles Act.
ARTO urged upon the general public to obey all the traffic rules and made it clear that such drives shall be conducted on a routined basis and strict action as per the norms of the Motor Vehicle Act shall be taken against the defaulters.
ARTO added that use of mobile phones, stunting, use of beams during night and non use of seat belts are common offences which can be easily avoided. He urged the drivers to be mindful of duties and responsibilities while driving and having self restraint in speeding limits is a way forward towards changing driving behaviours.
