Div Com inspects agriculture activities and Exhibition cum Craft Mela
Pouni: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer during his two day visit to Reasi district inspected the Seed Multiplication Farm, Granwalla and took stock of various ongoing activities of the Agriculture Department. During the visit he also reviewed the progress of ongoing construction of Soil Testing Laboratory and on spot instructions to the concerned executive agencies for early completion so that farming community of Reasi District can get benefited.
Further, he visited Mushroom Demonstration cum Training Centre at SM Farm where he took stock of the Milky Mushroom Demonstration laid by the Department.
The Divisional Commissioner also visited Vegetable Cluster, Granwalla where he interacted with the progressive farmers.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner alongwith DC visited the "Exhibition cum Craft Mela” which was organised by SHGs of JKRLM district Reasi at village Malair.
During this day long Exhibition cum Craft Mela, about 50 SHG members participated and exhibited their handicraft and food products which includes grass craft items, pickles, embroidery products, paintings, soft toys, sirah aroma lemon gift sets, lemon oil, Dogra cuisines etc.
The Div Com appreciated the hard work and talent of artisans and guided them about the importance of packaging, branding, labelling and marketing of the local products and urged them to Use E market plateforms for selling of local handmade products.
Div COM said, one needs to take advantage of branding and Marketing in promoting products.
DC Reasi assured the artisans all possible help in promoting their crafts. “Brand building, labeling and market support when given to small entrepreneurs will boost sales and exports thereby strengthening the foundation of economy,”. On this occassion Div Com appreciated the efforts of JKRLM in developing the competitive strength of the SHG members. They further acknowledge the role of JKRLM in changing the life of SHG women of Reasi. A Pickle manufacturing unit was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu accompanied with DC Reasi at Village Malair, Block Pouni. Another step to achieve sustainability.
