American micro-blogging and social networking platform Twitter restored the verified blue tick on former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni's account after briefly removing it earlier on Friday. Dhoni last tweeted on January 8, 2021. ANI tried to contact Twitter to ascertain the reason behind the removal and is still awaiting reply. The blue tick on a Twitter handle is to let people know that the social media account is authentic. It said to receive the blue badge, the person's account must be authentic, notable, and active.
According to Twitter's regulations, lack of activity for a prolonged period could lead to a verified account losing its blue tick.
