When asked about her childhood dream, Jagrati always wanted to become a district collector and work in social areas.

“I wanted to be an engineer initially and started my career as an electrical engineer, but then I realised I wanted to do something more meaningful and contribute in my own little way in society. I realised civil services was best suited for this, and therefore I took the plunge,” Jagrati said while talking to MEDIA Today.

Jagrati gave full credit to her parents and brother for her success. She also thanked her teachers who helped her achieve her goal.

After the spread of Covid-19, coaching centres were all closed, but still, Jagrati managed to maintain her motivation level strong at home as it was way too crucial for her to study without taking coaching classes.

“Initially, I studied for 8 to 10 hours. Eventually, I increased it to 10 to 12 hours, and about two months before the exam, I further pushed it to 12 to 14 hours,” she added.

Jagrati Awasthi, 24, secured second rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2020, the result of which was announced on Friday.
