Enforcement of restrictions in Jammu hotels, banquet halls ordered

Jammu: District Administration Jammu has ordered enforcement of restrictions with regard to prevention of COVID19 spread in the district following reports of violation of COVID appropriate norms in hotels and banquet halls.

To enforce COVID guidelines, the District Magistrate, Jammu Anshul Garg has ordered the Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and Tehsildars to convene meetings with the owners of hotels/banquet halls, within their respective jurisdiction to ensure that the COVID appropriate behavior was observed and no event continues beyond 10 pm.

 

Similarly, the DM has also directed the SDMs and Tehsildars to conduct random inspection of the premises of these hotels/banquet halls for any violation of COVID19 appropriate behavior and initiate necessary remedial measures including penalties and sealing of premises flouting guidelines.

 

“Ensure contact tracing and comprehensive testing of the areas where positive cases are being reported in their jurisdiction and shall recommend for notification of micro-containment zones to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA),” reads the order.

 

The DM said: “The fresh instructions were issued following reports that the restrictions are not being enforced in letter and spirit especially in hotels and banquets where social gatherings are taking place.” Therefore, it is leading to the rise in the number of positive cases which are being reported in the district, the order further reads.

 

Meanwhile, the DM has also asked the SSP Jammu to ensure that instructions are passed on all the SHOs for strict enforcement of night curfew and only essential services shall be allowed after 10 pm within the entire district.

 

These directions were issued as part of necessary precautions regarding prevention and control of COVID19 infection being taken by the district administration with the police and health authorities. Pertinently, the district administration - vide order 25/DCJ of 2021 dated 16-11-2021 - has imposed night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am in the territorial jurisdiction of district Jammu.
