Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday launched the ‘smart schools’ project in Jammu and Kashmir for tribal communities. This project will include modernisation of schools in two phases, with the first 100 schools being transformed by March 2022 and the rest 100 will be transformed by December 2022 at a cost of Rs 40 crore, confirmed his official tweet.
LG Manoj Sinha has made the announcement to provide scholarships to 21,000 children who belong to the Gaddi, Sippi, Dard, and Sheena communities who were not able to take education for the last three decades because of lack of funds and other uncertainties.
“In 1991, the Gaddi and Sippi communities were declared tribal but their children were denied scholarships. For three decades, they kept approaching governments but no decision was taken. This issue was brought to my notice just a few days back and we immediately decided that scholarships will be provided,” he said.
Aim of the project
To secure the future of tribal children, this smart school project will consist of facilities with modern technology which help them in their higher studies and make them ready to work in the professional industry.
