Jammu & Kashmir Launches Unique Craft Safari Tours To Promote Traditional Kashmir Art

With Srinagar making an entry in the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) list for its traditional art and craft, art lovers will have another reason to visit this destination.
Srinagar Launches Craft Tours To Boost Tourism & Empower Artisans
Srinagar’s Eidgah witnessed a unique craft safari tour held by the Jammu and Kashmir Department of Handicrafts and Handloom. As part of this craft safari tour, the Director of Handicraft, houseboat owners, tour operators, businessmen and other stakeholders explored workshops conducted by Kashmir’s artisan community. Tourists could get up-close with the making of wood carving, pashmina shawls, crewel working and more. The government has started craft safari tours to revive the age-old traditional Kashmiri art and craft practices and to boost tourism through these measures.
According to Hindustan Times, Director of Handicraft Kashmir, Mehmood Ahmad Shah revealed to ANI that these craft tours will educate tourists about the sincere effort put by artisans into their handicrafts.
