J&K Admin Issues Orange Alert Amid Heavy Snowfall and Rain
Jammu: In view of the forecast of heavy snowfall in the high mountainous areas of Jammu and Kashmir and rain in the plains from January 3 to January 9 by the Meteorological Department, the administration has issued an orange alert.
During this, various helpline numbers have been issued for the Jammu division from the office of the Jammu Divisional Commissioner, keeping in view that the general public is not inconvenienced.
During this period, if any emergency arises, control rooms have been set up at the district level in addition to the divisional level to deal with it, which will work 24 hours till January 9.
Furthermore, all the concerned departments have been alerted for this period, and quick reaction teams have been constituted to be prepared to deal with any emergency situation.
According to the Meteorological Department, normal to heavy snowfall and rain are likely in most areas of the Jammu and Kashmir division during the next 24 hours. This effect of Western Disturbance can last till January 8.
Due to snowfall and rain since yesterday, where Kashmir has been cut off from the rest of the country and the world by land and air. A similar situation is also being seen in the Jammu division.
