Gurugram: 2 feared dead as floor collapses at Chintels Paradiso
GURUGRAM: A floor of Chintels Paradiso, residential society in Sector 109 in Gurugram, collapsed on Thursday during a repairing work at sixth floor of Tower-4 of D-block.
Sources said two people, including a woman are feared dead while four-five people are still trapped under the debris.
Repairing work was in progress in the living room of a flat on sixth floor when its roof started to collapse. It led to collapse of one after another floor. The collapse started from sixth floor and it stopped on the first floor of building.
Many of the flats in between sixth and first floor were vacant which averted a major tragedy.
A team of NDRF along with fire brigade and disaster management personnel are engaged in rescue operation under supervision of senior officials of administration and police.
The society has 530 flats and nearly 420 families are staying in it for the past four years.
Chintels, in its official statement, said: "This is an extremely unfortunate incident and we have taken it very seriously as the safety of our residents is our utmost concern. Upon preliminary investigations, we have come to know that some negligence in repair work done by the contractor in an apartment led to the incident. We are fully cooperating with the authorities and ensuring all support. We extend our heartfelt condolence to the affected families.
