Royal Singh booked under PSA, lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail
Jammu: Natorious gangster Royal Singh has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal.
Police said that there are 9 FIRs against Royal Singh and today his PSA warrant was executed.
Royal Singh was arrested in Amandeep Murder case in 2009 and was allegedly operating a racket from inside the jail also. After his release on court orders, Royal allegedly started operating another racket from New Delhi for extortion, betting and gambling. After a series of complaints, Jammu police constituted a team of officers to nab him. “On transit remand he was shifted to Jammu and today his PSA warrant was executed by Trikuta Nagar Police.
Wanted in a series of extortion cases, a three-member team from Jammu Police arrested notorious gangster Royal Singh from New Delhi where he was hiding following the series of complaints after his release from the jail on the court orders.
On April 17, 2022, Gandhi Nagar police had taken custody of Royal Singh, who at that time was lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal and was undergoing imprisonment for lifeterm, in the firing case.
“Royal Singh, son of Manjeet Singh, a resident of Mohallah Dalpatian, Jammu was the main conspirator in the firing on contractor Choudhary Nagar Singh’s residence at Gandhi Nagar”, police said.
On April 3, 2021, an FIR was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar after some unknown persons opened fire on the residence of Nagar Singh.
Later, all the accused were released on bail and on January 7, 2022, in the much publicised Amandeep Singh murder case, a three Judges Bench of Supreme Court granted bail to Royal Singh, who was undergoing life imprisonment.
After hearing the counsel for Royal Singh, the Supreme Court had observed, “the petitioner has already suffered incarceration for a period of more than 12 years and more particularly the fact that there is not much likelihood of the hearing of the appeal preferred by him before the High Court in near future, we deem it appropriate to grant bail to the petitioner”.
The Supreme Court had directed that the petitioner be enlarged on bail on terms and conditions to be imposed by the trial court. Now after his release, being a habitual criminal Royal Singh allegedly again started extortion and betting trade.
