Two Lady Drug Peddlers Arrested: Police
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two lady drug peddlers in Cherkoot Lolab area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A police spokesman in a statement said that in a major success on its anti-narcotics drive against the drug peddlers in the district, Kupwara Police today morning has arrested two ladies involved in sale of narcotics in the district.
The spokesman in a statement said that acting on a specific information, a special naka was established at Cherkoot Lolab by a team of Police Station Sogam led by SHO Tanveer Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Lolab Ajaz Ahmad.
He said that during the course of naka checking, a bus bearing registration number JK01Y-0829 was intercepted and two suspicious ladies were deboarded from the said vehicle.
“During the personal search of the ladies, a large consignment of Charas like narcotics substance weighing 3 Kgs was recovered from their personal possession,” he added.
The spokesman both the ladies involved in the commission of crime were identified as Parveena Begum wife of Nazir Ahmad Lohar and Saiba Akhtar daughter of Mera Lohar, both residents of Warnow Freswadi.
“Both were arrested from the spot. During preliminary investigations, it has come to fore that the duo was transporting drug to Srinagar,” he said.
“Case FIR No. 72/2022 under sections 8/20, 29 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Sogam and investigations taken up. More arrests in the case are expected in the coming days,” said police spokesman in a statement.
