Education Department Kargil organizes orientation program on NILP
Education Department Kargil today organized an orientation program on New India Literacy Program (NILP) for Zonal Education Officers, Zonal Education Planning Officers, Zonal Nodal Officers and Zonal Coordinators in Kargil.
During the event, District Coordinator, NILP, Aga Syed Sajjad informed the officers about their roles and responsibilities.
The program is aimed is to impart foundational literacy, numeracy and to cover other components like skills, financial and digital literacy necessary for a citizen of the 21st century.
He said that it will help to assist school dropouts at all levels, including semi-literates, neo-literates and non-literates to acquire the crucial skills. He said non-literates, who are 15 years and above, will be covered under the scheme.
State Nodal Officer, Directorate of School Education Ladakh (NILP) Ghulam Mohammad informed that the foundational literacy and numeracy target is 22,027 learners in Kargil district and hoped to achieve 100 percent literacy rate till March 2024.
The State Nodal Officer also informed that due to harsh climate conditions and migration of learners from Zanskar, the classes will be conducted in the first week of March.
District Coordinator, NILP, Aga Syed Sajjad, District Assistant Coordinator, NILP, Zeeshan Ali, resource person, Issa Sabiri also attended the day long program.
