Chinar Corps Commander and J&K DGP Co-Chair Core Group Meeting for Security Discussions
Srinagar, September 25: The Chinar Corps Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, and the Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh, jointly presided over a high-level Core Group meeting involving intelligence agencies and security forces in Srinagar on Monday, as reported by the Army.
The meeting centered on a comprehensive review of the security situation and explored strategies to strengthen the counter-infiltration and counter-terrorism framework. The session took place at the Badami Bagh cantonment, which houses the Army’s 15 Corps headquarters.
In a statement, the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps posted on social media: “#ChinarCorps Cdr Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai & DGP J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh co-chaired a multi-agency Core Group meeting to include Intelligence Agencies & Security Forces at BB Cantt, #Srinagar today. The security situation was reviewed and courses of action to enhance the CI/CT Grid was deliberated on.”
This significant meeting occurred shortly after a major loss for security forces in Kashmir earlier this year. During an anti-militancy operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, two highly decorated Army officers, including a Commanding Officer and a Major, along with a Deputy Superintendent of J&K Police and a soldier, tragically lost their lives. Subsequently, the security forces successfully neutralized two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants, including Uzair Khan, who was responsible for the officers’ deaths, during a week-long encounter.
