Jammu and Kashmir Authorities Apprehend Five ‘Hybrid’ Terrorists Linked to LeT

J&K : In the wake of the successful dismantling of two terror modules by Kulgam Police, a significant operation in Jammu and Kashmir led to the apprehension of five ‘hybrid’ terrorists. These individuals, not listed with security forces, are allegedly used by terror groups to execute one or two isolated attacks. The operation also resulted in the discovery of weapons and ammunition.

During the raid, law enforcement authorities recovered two pistols, three hand grenades, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), and additional rounds of ammunition. The arrested individuals were identified as Aadil Hussain Wani, Suhail Ahmad Dar, Aitmad Ahmad Laway, Mehraj Ahmad Lone, and Sabzar Ahmad Khaar, all of whom were associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, a notorious terrorist organization.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Qaimoh police station, and the case is currently under investigation.

This development comes on the heels of a similar operation conducted approximately a month ago in Bandipora, North Kashmir, where the police disrupted a terror cell and apprehended two suspects in possession of firearms and ammunition. The operation was conducted in collaboration with the 26 Assam Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Furthermore, in Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir, police and security personnel recently apprehended two militants affiliated with the TRF outfit, a known offshoot of the banned terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Evidence, weapons, and ammunition were seized from their possession. According to an official statement from Baramulla police, on September 21, credible intelligence sources indicated that Yaseen Ahmad Shah, son of Tariq Ahmad and a resident of Janbazpora Baramulla, had gone missing and allegedly joined the proscribed terror organization TRF, believed to be a LeT branch operating out of Pakistan.

The statement further disclosed that an investigation was initiated, resulting in the joint efforts of Baramulla Police, the Army, and CAPF. During a vehicle checkpoint (MVCP) inspection at Tapper Pattan, the alleged insurgent was apprehended, found in possession of incriminating items, weapons, and ammunition, including a pistol, a pistol magazine, and eight live rounds, according to a police spokesperson.
