IAS Naveen Tanwar suspended for being involved in IBPS Bank Clerk Recruitment Scam
Naveen Tanwar, an IAS officer from the 2019 batch, has been suspended on Friday, April 5, after allegedly taking the bank clerk recruitment exam on someone else’s behalf. IAS Naveen Tanwar
This action follows Tanwar’s recent three-year prison sentence. Judicial Magistrate Shivam Verma of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) fined Tanwar Rs 50,000, but he was released on bail. According to the Law Department, if an employee or officer remains in jail for 48 hours, they should automatically be considered ‘suspended’.
Tanwar, who was serving as the Additional Deputy Commissioner/Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) in the Chamba district, was found to have taken the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) clerk recruitment exam in place of Amit Singh from Jhansi in 2014.
Background of the Case: IAS Naveen Tanwar Bank Clerk Case 2014
The case revolves around a paper fraud incident related to the 2014 Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) recruitment exam. The exam took place at the Ideal Institute of Technology in Ghaziabad on November 13, 2014. During the exam, Naveen Tanwar, along with another individual named Sawan Kumar, impersonated candidates Amit Singh and Ajay Pal Singh, respectively.
Tanwar and Kumar were apprehended by the CBI, along with two intermediaries named Sugriv Gurjar and Hanumat Gurjar, who had prepared Tanwar and Kumar to take the exam in place of the actual candidates.
Naveen Tanwar is a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Tanwar is a 2019 batch IAS officer of Himachal cadre. He was currently posted as Additional District Magistrate (ADM) in Himachal Pradesh. About 10 months ago, he was given the responsibility of the post of Additional Deputy Commissioner/Project Director in the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) in Chamba district. Before this, he has also been SDM in Kangra and Chamba.
