JKPSC candidates rue selection of same candidates for various Assistant Professor posts
Commission shortlisted 5 or 6 candidates for each post based on the merit in the written test and later conducted a common viva-voce on 19-07-2024
Srinagar, Aug 02: The JKPSC aspirants have rued that the same candidates have been selected for various Assistant Professor posts in various medical colleges of the UT.
In a petition filed before the Chief Secretary they have said that the PSC issued selection lists for the posts of Assistant Professor Community Medicine and Epidemiologist-cum Assistant Professor in various Medical colleges of UT on 23-7-2024 vide notifications no.’s 16-PSC (DR-S) of 2024 and 17-PSC (DR-S) of 2024 respectively.
According to the petition, the J&K PSC conducted a common written test for these posts as all these posts had similar eligibility criteria and for majority of the posts same candidates had applied. Commission shortlisted 5 or 6 candidates for each post based on the merit in the written test and later conducted a common viva-voce on 19-07-2024.
Each candidate was asked to exercise their choices for selection among the available posts of Assistant Professor Community Medicine or Epidemiologist-cum Assistant Professor from the various medical colleges of the UT before appearing for the viva-voce, a candidate said. The candidate said that the commission while issuing the selection lists for the posts have selected the same candidate for both the posts while ignoring their choices they have entered at the time of interview with the result only 4 or 5 candidates got selected in both the “lists thereby barring chances of selection of other eligible candidates.”
"Commission by selecting the same candidates in the two lists have again given candidates the choices to opt for the posts from the two select lists giving no value to the choices candidates have given at the time of interview. As the selected candidates will eventually opt for only one post (first choice), leaving the post of their second selection vacant. I request your good self to revise the selection lists of Assistant Professor Community Medicine and Epidemiologist-cum Assistant Professor as per the choices and overall merit obtained by the candidates so that a candidate gets selected only at one place and other eligible candidates have chances for selection,” the petition read.
