Total Vacancies
The recruitment notification has listed a total of 669 vacancies for the post of Sub-Inspector in the J&K Police. However, the exact category-wise distribution of vacancies will be detailed in Annexure A of the official notification. Importantly, the number of posts is subject to change during the selection process.
Eligibility Criteria
A. Domicile Requirement:
Candidates must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
A valid domicile certificate issued by a competent authority is mandatory, and it must be submitted on or before the last date of application (02.01.2025).
B. Age Limit (As of 01.01.2024):
Minimum Age: 18 years
Maximum Age: 28 years (varies based on category)
C. Educational Qualification:
Candidates must meet the educational qualification prescribed in Annexure A of the notification.
All educational qualifications must be validated with original certificates during the document verification stage.
Selection Process
The recruitment process involves three stages:
1. Written Examination
Mode: Objective-Type, Multiple Choice Questions.
Language: English.
Negative Marking: ¼th (0.25) marks deducted for each incorrect answer.
Bonus Marks: Candidates possessing NCC Certificates will receive bonus marks:
NCC “C” Certificate: 5% of total marks
NCC “B” Certificate: 3% of total marks
NCC “A” Certificate: 2% of total marks
2. Physical Standard Test (PST)
For Male Candidates:
Minimum Height: 5 feet 6 inches
Chest: 32 inches (unexpanded), 33½ inches (expanded)
For Female Candidates:
Minimum Height: 5 feet 2 inches
Relaxation:
Gorkha Community: 2-inch height relaxation.
Bot Tribe: 2-inch height relaxation.
3. Physical Endurance Test (PET)
For Male Candidates:
Long Race: 1600 meters in 6½ minutes.
Push-ups: 20 (one complete cycle).
For Female Candidates:
Long Race: 1000 meters in 6½ minutes.
Shot Put (4 kg): 14½ feet in three attempts.
Important Conditions
Ex-Servicemen: The period of service in the Armed Forces can be deducted from the actual age for determining eligibility.
Candidates are required to produce original certificates for verification at various stages.
