J&K High Court Stays Deputy Commissioner’s Order on EWS Certificate Cancellation

J&K High Court Stays Deputy Commissioner’s Order on EWS Certificate Cancellation
Jammu, Dec 31: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has stayed an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, regarding the cancellation of an Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate. The decision brings temporary relief to the petitioner, Ajay Kumar Sareen, who had challenged the order dated December 16, 2024.

The Deputy Commissioner’s order was passed in the case titled “Ashima Gupta Versus UT of J&K,” wherein the EWS certificate issued by Tehsildar Jammu Khas in favor of the petitioner was revoked. Sareen approached the High Court seeking redress, arguing that the cancellation was unjust.

The High Court, after hearing the matter, stayed the cancellation order, allowing the petitioner to retain the EWS certificate until further adjudication.
